We are a friendly, growing chess club based in the heart of Crewe, meeting every Tuesday. We are trialing an early start for new players and junior players from 17:30 onwards.
The club welcomes players of all ages and abilities, so if you are looking for a friendly chess club that meets every week —whether you are a junior or a veteran— come along and meet us.
For friendly chess, you can simply turn up at the club and the odds are that you’ll be sitting down playing within ten minutes.
The club is part of the local chess league, so if you are inclined, there are plenty of opportunities for competitive chess too.
Our club participates mainly in the North Staffs & District Chess Association league with numerous teams, aiming to provide league chess for all members on a competitive basis.
The club offers free on site parking and is within a few minutes’ walking distance of Crewe bus station.
Notes for visitors:
- Entrance to the free car park is from a one-way system coming from the Flag Lane end of Delamere Street.
- Please enter your car registration details on the screen in the foyer when you arrive.
- Refreshments are available at 50p each (Cash Only).
- We cannot sell alcohol but visitors may bring their own if desired.
- If our carpark is full please note, most carparks in Crewe charge for parking until 10:00pm. There is a free carpark at Browning St, Crewe CW1 3BB or free street parking just past the Caritas centre in Lawrence Street
For beginners our club also runs a separate session every Friday at Crewe Library 16:15pm-17:45pm, Lifestyle Centre, Moss Square, Crewe CW1 2BB
