1.e4 c6 2.d4 d5 3.e5 Bf5 4.Nc3 e6 5.a3 c5 6.Bd3 Bxd3 7.Qxd3 Nc6 8.Nge2 h6 9.Be3 b6 10.O-O Be7 {While this might be a mistake because it segregates the Knight, it also doubles Queen and Bishop in the same diagonal, which is why White plans to get rid of the Bishop by forcing an exchange with a Knight, even if that will cost an extra pawn.}11.Nb5 a6 12.Nd6+ Bxd6 13.exd6 Qxd6 14.Qb3 Nce7 15.Bf4 Qc6 16.Qg3 {White wanted to attack g7, not realising that the Knight can easily kick the Queen away.}16...Nf5 17.Qc3 Nge7 18.dxc5 bxc5 19.Ng3 {To keep attacking g7, White must first get rid of the Knight.}19...O-O 20.Nh5 {Only now does White realise the threat of Nh4 combined with Qxg2... So a maneuvre starts to make the Bishop prevent that threat.}20...d4 21.Qh3 Ng6 22.Bg3 Qd5 23.Nf4 {The Knights have doubled and are far too dangerous... they need to go}23...Nxf4 24.Bxf4 Qe4 25.Qg4 e5 26.Rfe1 {This forces an exchange of Queen and enables White take an extra pawn with the Rook.}26...Qxf4 27.Qxf4 exf4 28.Re5 Nd6 29.Rxc5 Rac8 30.Rd5 Nb5 31.a4 Nc7 32.Rxd4 {One more pawn...}32...Ne6 33.Rd2 Rfd8 34.Rad1 Rxc2 $4 {This blunder allows White to take Rook and Knight at the price of one Rook only, thus becoming even in material again.}35.Rxd8+ Nxd8 36.Rxd8+ Kh7 37.f3 {White is down on time and offers a draw.
